Tau Beta Pi - Illinois Epsilon Chapter

Illinois Epsilon was installed on April 3,1976 at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. It has initiated over 700 members since then.

The chapter’s first purpose is to "mark in a fitting manner" engineering students of distinguished scholarship and exemplary chapter, Tau Beta Pi chapters are also responsible for encouraging a spirit of liberal culture in engineering colleges. Illinois Epsilon has undertaken several projects over the years to that end.

Chapter projects are designed to serve the chapter, campus, or community. Each semester Illinois Epsilon has organized and coordinated EIT Review sessions to help students review and prepare for the EIT exam. The chapter also sells EIT review manuals at cost to students. Every spring, the chapter participates in the Engineering Minds Games during E-week in February. The chapter organizes the Egg Drop Challenge. The chapter projects are accomplished by the electees, who are expected to participate in at least one activity before their initiation.

Illinois Epsilon is one of the chapters in District 8, one of the geographic divisions of Tau Beta Pi. The collegiate chapters in the District meet for a conference each spring. Through the District Program our students work with the national organization more closely and have expected help at solving chapter problems.
