The off-campus program will be administered by the Department of Technology. Courses will be taught by the Industrial Technology faculty who are full-time employees of Southern Illinois University Carbondale. Full-time faculty will deliver the proposed program as part of their regular assignment. Adjuncts, or other SIUC faculty, may be used on a limited basis. If used, they will be required to possess the same credentials as full-time Industrial Technology faculty. The Director, Outreach Programs, College of Engineering, has responsibility for managing the program. Delivery of the off-campus program will not affect other programs offered by Industrial Technology. The University expects to enroll forty students in the program. Projected graduates are twenty by the end of the program.
Industrial technology professionals will be involved with:
- The application of significant knowledge of theories, concepts, and principles found in the humanities and the social and behavioral sciences, including a thorough grounding in communication skills.
- The understanding and ability to apply principles and concepts of mathematical and physical sciences.
- The application of concepts derived from, and current skills developed in, a variety of technical disciplines including, but not limited to, robotics, processes, computer-aided manufacturing, quality control, motion and time study, plant layout, facilities planning, industrial safety, production and inventory control, human relations, and computer-aided drafting.
