Assessment Tool Description

 

Project 1: Design a grid-connected photovoltaic generator plus storage for a single-phase 240-V 60 Hz application using thyristors and line commutated circuits. Simulate in SIMULINK.

Project 2: Design and build in SIMULINK a three-phase PWM inverter for variable frequency and voltage operation. Use third harmonic. Design the control loop to control output voltage magnitude.

Homework: Demonstrate problem solving ability: calculate converter performance, device size.

Final Exam: Demonstrate problem solving ability and understanding of basic operation of power electronic circuits (switching action, waveforms, and harmonics).
