Industrial Technology Degree

We offer a bachelor of science degree in industrial technology in three different programs:
            On-campus – Traditional program
            Off-Campus program
            Laborer Union Program

Students will be well trained in the high-demand technical and managerial areas of: six sigma, lean manufacturing, quality control, computer-aided manufacturing, industrial robotics, manufacturing processes, industrial safety, facilities planning, cost estimating and personnel supervision.

Our Capstone Program Option makes it possible for those of you who hold associate in applied science (A.A.S.) degrees in a wide variety of manufacturing-related disciplines to complete your bachelor of science degree requirements within two academic years. A.A.S. graduates with a grade point average of 2.25 (out of 4.00) are eligible to apply for this program during their first semester of enrollment at the University.

We also offer a specialized weekend format for the convenience of those of you who are already working. Our weekend program is offered on the University’s Carbondale campus, as well as 12 industrial sites and military bases across the United States. Each course is typically offered on three alternate weekends over a five-week period. By completing two courses each semester, you can complete the entire program core requirements within 26 months.

Our master’s degree program in manufacturing systems emphasizes modern aspects of quality and automation. This program is especially well suited for graduates who wish to apply their skills in industry.

Our Program

About a third of your total hours will be in the University’s Core Curriculum (courses required of all students pursuing a bachelor’s degree) and will provide you with a broad background in the liberal arts and sciences improve your communication skills and help you understand the world in which you will be making decisions.

The majority of your time will be spent taking Industrial Technology Core requirements and technical electives that will help you meet your career objectives.

 You will also spend considerable time in our well equipped laboratories for hands-on practical training in the technical areas of computer-aided design/ manufacturing (CAD/CAM), manufacturing processes, industrial robotics, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), and industrial metrology.
